What to Expect From Your Underseal Appointment
Your Underseal appointment, explained
WE COME TO YOU.
WE PROTECT THE DRIVE.
WE PROTECT THE VEHICLE.
We deliver a full Silverhook mobile undersealing treatment on suitable private driveways, with careful preparation, protection of the surrounding area and photographs throughout. You’ll know what happens before we arrive and what to expect when we finish.

01 / Before the visit
JUST GET THE VEHICLE AND DRIVEWAY READY.
You’ll receive an acknowledgement of your booking request followed by a separate confirmation once we’ve checked the route, diary, vehicle type and working area. There’s no deposit.
Please prepare
- A private, firm, level driveway or hard-standing area
- Enough clear working space around the vehicle and access to its wheels
- Remove obstacles, toys, furniture and pets from the work area
- Tell us about recent welding, old coatings, heavy rust or underbody equipment
- Plan for the vehicle to remain parked while the coating dries afterwards
We bring
- Tarpaulin and suitable marine ply to help protect the driveway
- Rated jacks, axle stands and appropriate working equipment
- Tools, drills and wire brushes for underside preparation
- Masking materials, sheets and overspray protection
- Silverhook professional aerosol underseal and documentation equipment
02 / Arriving on site
WE CHECK SAFETY BEFORE ANYTHING MOVES.
We review the vehicle’s underside and the working surface. Vehicles up to 4 tonnes are only accepted if our lifting equipment, appropriate jack/stand points and ground conditions make the work safe. We do not work underneath a vehicle held up by a jack alone. If the driveway slopes, is unsuitable, or conditions cannot safely control aerosol spray, we discuss an alternative rather than risk damage.
03 / Driveway protection and safe lifting
FIRST, WE PROTECT THE GROUND.
We lay tarpaulin and use marine ply where appropriate to help protect the driveway from marking. We check the setup and position suitable support equipment on an appropriate hard, level surface, following safe lifting procedures. Marine ply is a surface-protection measure, not a substitute for stable support or the correct capacity of lifting equipment.
We use appropriate jacks and axle stands, chock the vehicle as required, and remove wheels and accessible undertrays or arch liners where practical to reach the underside properly.
04 / Preparation
THE WORK THAT MAKES THE DIFFERENCE.
We brush and mechanically prepare accessible sills, wheel arches and underside areas, using drills and wire brushes to remove loose dirt, flaky deposits and failing old seal where suitable. A protective coating should not be applied over unsound material. If the vehicle needs structural welding or extensive restoration, we stop and explain it before coating.
We take photos of the initial condition and preparation stages so you can see which areas have been treated.
05 / Masking and containment
CAREFUL WITH YOUR VEHICLE — AND YOUR PROPERTY.
We mask appropriate bodywork and sensitive components, and position sheeting around the vehicle to help control aerosol overspray. We protect the driveway and consider nearby property, drains, wind, ventilation and any ignition sources. Children, pets and bystanders must stay clear of the spraying area.
Spraying only proceeds when the outdoor working conditions are suitable for the product’s safety data sheet and professional controls.
06 / Silverhook application
PREPARED FIRST. COATED SECOND.
We apply Silverhook Under Seal Spray (SGUS1), a professional bitumen-based underbody coating, to suitable prepared and accessible areas. We follow the manufacturer’s guidance and avoid brake friction surfaces, hot exhaust components and anything else unsuitable for coating. We photograph the application and finished accessible areas as part of the job record.
07 / Handover and aftercare
YOU SEE WHAT’S BEEN DONE.
Once the treatment is finished and it is safe to do so, we refit parts removed for access, check the vehicle and show you the photo record. We provide a summary of the work, any areas excluded and the recommended aftercare. The package is paid for when the agreed work is completed and you’ve had a chance to review it.
Drying time
- Silverhook’s SGUS1 technical sheet states approximately 5–7 hours to dry
- Actual drying depends on thickness, ventilation and conditions
- Do not drive until the treated areas have dried sufficiently
- Keep children, pets and ignition sources away until safe
Looking after it
- Check for abrasion, stone impact and damaged coating over time
- Keep your photographs and treatment record
- Book optional lower-price annual inspection and top-up
- Report any suspected workmanship issue within 12 months
If we discover serious rust
WE TELL YOU — WE DON’T COVER IT UP.
Structural corrosion must be assessed and repaired by a reputable welder. We’ll pause the job, explain what we’ve found and arrange to return to complete the treatment after the repair is sound and the vehicle can be handled safely. Welding is not part of the undersealing price.
